Avianca LifeMiles New 115% Bonus to Transfer Miles Between Accounts Until December 15, 2022

0

Avianca LifeMiles has brought back its points transfer promotion, designed to move miles between accounts (at a fee), with members getting a 115% Bonus when transferring miles until December 15, 2022.

LifeMiles frequently runs similar promotions, previously with bonus amounts ranging from 110% to 125%, depending on the campaign.

Avianca LifeMiles has essentially become a miles-minting program that’s constantly running sales for their mileage currency with big bonuses.

You can access the current promotion on the LifeMiles website here.

This is their most recent campaign:

Remember that this is nothing but essentially buying miles with the added benefit of consolidating accounts while paying a fee in the process.

The miles you transfer aren’t free – somehow, you collected or purchased them before – so that could potentially influence people’s thinking when evaluating if this is a great deal or not.

The price of a newly minted mile under this offer is 1.3 US cents each ($15/1,150)

You can always purchase miles through the Miles&Cash option during the redemption process at the rate of 1.5 cents per mile (depending on how many miles you buy – the prices vary based on the amount).

Today (December 2, 2022) is also the last day where you can buy Lifemiles with 160% Bonus through the Cyber Week Sale:

Avianca Buy LifeMiles With Up To 160% Bonus Cyber Day Sale November 22 – December 2, 2022

Before transferring (or purchasing) large amounts of Lifemiles, one should consider that there were plenty of recent complaints with the program blocking award availability that was otherwise available through other programs, yet it’s not showing on the Lifemiles site.

This has been a problem in the past as well, and it appears that Avianace is actively blocking certain partners, which is rather frustrating, especially after you spend a considerable amount of money on them.

Conclusion

This transfer bonus makes it easier to consolidate miles from family accounts for one and keep them from not expiring. I consolidated miles with a friend last year when they were about to turn to dust.

Buying Lifemiles outright, it’s most likely better to use one of their more lucrative bonuses. However, keep in mind the issues with the award availability I mentioned in regard to the blocking of certain partners and routes, as it appears that Avianca is actively limiting availability.
