British Airways has today internally announced that it will cancel an additional 10,300 flights between August and September 2022.
The airline has previously canceled many flights from April this year, bringing the total to more than 30,000 April – October period.

These latest cancellations will mainly hit short-haul flights, although there are undoubtedly some long-haul ones that are also affected.

The cancellations affect London Heathrow, Gatwick and City airports.
The latest cancellations come ahead of Friday’s deadline, announced last month by the Department for Transport (DfT), for an amnesty to give airlines a short window to hand back, without facing the usual penalty, any airport slots in the summer season they are not confident they will be able to operate.
“While most of our flights are unaffected and the majority of customers will get away as planned, we don’t underestimate the impact this will have and we’re doing everything we can to get their travel plans back on track,” the airline said.
Conclusion
The Depart of Transport announced an amnesty last month that allows airlines to keep their slots even if they don’t utilize them during the Summer period (usually these are use or lose it), and BA uses this to their advantage.
