Cathay Pacific on Friday sent out an email blast informing Cathay, previously Marco Polo Club, members that their membership tiers would be extended through December 31, 2023.
The email touches on other topics, too, such as the reopening of Hong Kong without a quarantine (finally), ramping up flight services, and Miles Flights for October.
You can access Cathay’s page for status extensions here.
Cathay Pacific’s Email:
My Experience Entering Hong Kong On September 26:
Hong Kong No Quarantine Arrival Experience On September 26, 2022
Conclusion
It must have been tough three years for the CEO of Cathay Pacific, Mr. Augustus Tang, looking at the photo in the email (lacks energy).
Cathay has new challenges ahead while Hong Kong slowly reopens and the airline tries to ramp up its services; they don’t have enough employees on the payroll.
The goal is to offer roughly 30% of the 2019 December schedule flown in two months. Their August schedule was only about 10% compared to the same month in 2019.
We wish Cathay Pacific the very best, and the service in the business from Melbourne to Hong Kong and later to Tokyo was lovely.
