A LoyaltyLobby reader alerted on the article comments about award availability issues at Hilton-affiliated Emerald House hotel in Lisbon (Curio Collection).
The hotel has extremely limited standard award availability that is required for elite members to get their fifth night free.

Note that we were in touch with a Hilton spokesperson to get a comment if a hotel can designate an accessible room, a standard room for award purposes, but have not received a comment.
July 2022 Availability:
There is standard availability at 50,000 points per night on 7 nights in July, and the room type is “King Guest Room.”
Availability in 2022 & 2023
There is zero standard availability in August, September, October, November, December, January & February.
There is availability on 3 days in March, 19 in April, 23 in May, and 17 in June 2023, and only for King Accessible Room.

Conclusion
It is wrong if this hotel has designated their King Accessible Room for standard award purposes, preventing those with handicaps from essentially booking them for cash as they are taken using points or certificates.
How does this hotel not have ANY standard award availability for EIGHT months?
This only makes sense if Emerald House Lisbon is playing games and tries to discourage award reservations. Hilton should have stricter control of hotels that are part of its system so that such situations can be avoided.
