Conclusion
Qantas incentivizes its Frequent Flyers to book new trips by offering double status credits or awards points.
I find it interesting that offers like this are very popular in Australia but not often available elsewhere.
Here are the frequently asked questions:
Can I switch my bonus reward?
Yes. Simply complete the registration process again by 11.59pm (AEDT) Friday 1 April 2022. This can be done from your email or the Thanks a Million registration page. Once this promotion has ended, you’ll be unable to switch.
How do I know if I have registered for either double Qantas Points or double Status Credits
Once you have completed the registration process from this page, you will receive confirmation of your reward. If you change your reward preference, the reward fulfilled will be the last reward chosen before the campaign end date. This reward will apply to all eligible flights booked in the campaign period.
What flights are eligible for this offer?
Australian domestic and International Qantas operated flights with a ‘QF’ flight number booked between 25 March and 1 April 2022. You do not need to book a sale fare to be eligible for double Qantas Points or double Status Credits. Double Qantas Points or double Status Credits will not be earned on some fare types and booking classes. See Airline Earning Table for details.
What will happen if I book for multiple passengers, what reward will they get on their flight?
All passengers in each flight booking must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member (or join free) and then register separately by 11.59pm (AEDT) Friday 1 April 2022 to earn their chosen reward (double Status Credits or double Qantas Points). For example, if you were to book an eligible flight for yourself and a family member, both yourself and the family member must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member and each much register for the reward separately. You and your family members can choose different rewards.
What will happen if I book multiple flights? Can I choose a different reward for each eligible flight?
No. For all eligible flights booked in the offer period, a Qantas Frequent Flyer member will earn the last reward chosen before the campaign end date. For example, if you were to book an eligible flight and register for double Qantas Points, and then later book another eligible flight, you will earn the reward in which you registered for both bookings. If you were to later change your reward to double Status Credits within the campaign period, you will earn double Status Credits on both bookings.
When will I receive my double Qantas Point or double Status Credit reward?
Double Qantas Points and Status Credits will be credited to your account eight weeks after travel. Bonus Status Credits earned from this offer do not count towards Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward and Status Accelerator/Challenge earn requirements. Status Credits are not transferable and will be governed by the Qantas Frequent Flyer terms and conditions.
How many bookings can I make?
There is no limit to the number of eligible bookings that you can book for yourself during the promotional period.
How do I book?
Flights can be booked via the Qantas website, a travel agent or Qantas Contact Centres. Fees and charges may apply.
Will I earn double Qantas Points or double Status Credits if I register and then book a holiday package at Qantas Holidays?
Yes, you will earn your chosen reward on the flight component of the Qantas Holiday package booked within the offer period. Go to Qantas Holidays.
Where can I currently travel within and outside Australia?
Check the latest Government travel restrictions, which may include mandatory health declarations, COVID 19 tests, vaccinations, use of face masks, entry permits, pre-approval and quarantine (possibly at your own expense), or you could be denied entry.
What happens if my flight is changed or cancelled by Qantas?
We may make some changes to our schedule as a result of various government restrictions and the associated impacts of COVID-19. If we’ve cancelled your Qantas flight, we’ll rebook you on the next available flight to your booked destination (if possible), at no additional cost to you. Alternatively, you can choose a flight credit or a refund. You won’t be charged any change or cancellation fees.
Will I earn double Qantas Points or double Status Credits if I use ‘Book Now, Pay Later’ to make my flight booking?
If you book your eligible flight during the promotion period, you will earn the bonus reward regardless of payment date. You will not earn double Qantas Points or double Status Credits if you do not complete your payment on the advised payment due date. If you book your eligible flight outside the promotion period and pay for your booking within the promotion period, your booking will not be eligible to earn the double Qantas Points or double Status Credits.
Are Qantas Flight vouchers eligible for this offer?
Flight Vouchers purchased and redeemed for an eligible flight booking made during the promotion period will be eligible for the bonus reward. Flight Vouchers purchased but not redeemed for an eligible flight booking (for flights that are not booked or travelled within the booking or travel period dates), will not earn the bonus reward.
Will I earn double Qantas Points or double Status Credits if I use a Qantas Flight Credit?
Once you’ve registered for this promotion, Flight Credits redeemed for an eligible flight booking during the promotion period will earn the chosen reward. You can redeem your Flight Credit through Manage booking, by entering the credit reference number and your last name.
