The JW Marriott El Convento is one of the top luxury hotel in Cuzco, Perú. This property occupies the premises of the old Convent of San Agustín, a XVII century Spanish colonial convent in Cuzco’s historic district. The hotel offers 146 rooms and 7 suites, all of them providing a supplemental oxygen system to prevent undesirable high-altitude sickness effects among its guests. The hotel also features a spa, a Peruvian food restaurant and a museum exhibiting historical pieces found during the building restoriation.
The building is listed as a national historical monument since 1972, and since 1983 it belongs to the city’s central area declared Cultural World Herritage by UNESCO. Restoration works started in 2006 and lasted until 2012, when the hotel was opened to the public.

This property used to be a good redemption deal before the dynamic award “enhancement”: as a Category 5 it could be booked for as low as 24,000 points per night during off-peak season using the 5th night free benefit. Nowadays the lowest award I was able to find was 43,000 points per night! Thank you, Marriott!!
