United Airlines MileagePlus & Emirates Skywards Partnership Live On March 26, 2023 & Double Miles Promotions

United Airlines and Emirates announced a codeshare agreement with a frequent flyer component in September 2022 (read more here) that appears to go live on March 26, 2023.

United has now updated its MileagePlus page with information about earning and redeeming miles for select Emirates flights.

The frequent flier agreement between United Airlines and Emirates appears to be extremely limited.

MileagePlus members can only earn miles on select Emirates flights ex-Dubai if they fly to Dubai on a United flight. The same also applies to awards on Emirates flights. They can only be redeemed if you take the United service to Dubai (I assume an award).

United offers double miles on eligible Emirates flights between March 26 – April 30, 2023.

Conclusion

The frequent flier partnership that Air Canada has with Emirates (read more here) is far superior to that of United’s. You can earn and redeem Aeroplan miles for all eligible Emirates flights.

MileagePlus members must take a United flight to Dubai and can then earn miles on select Emirates flights, and the same also applies to awards.
