American Express has loaded a new Amex Offer to select card accounts (non-co branded cards) that advertises a US$60 credit when spending at least US$300 at Hyatt Regency Hotels in the U.S. through July 18, 2022.
The offer requires a combined amount of charges reaching at least $300 to be charged to the card the member registers with in order for the credit to be processed.
In case a cardmember has multiple cards, only one card can be enrolled for the offer as it usually is for these but you will be able to sign up authorized users separately.
Amex has these offers quite regularly, in fact there is another one around for Marriott that is loaded to their Bonvoy Cobranded cards as well (will write that one up separately).
You will find these offers when logging into your account, either on the app or website.
The current Hyatt one looks like this:
This particular offer is very brand specific. You can only use it at Hyatt Regency and none of the other Hyatt brands. At the same time it’s only valid in the U.S. and not in other parts of North America or the Caribbean as most offers usually allow it.
It showed up on my Platinum Charge Card and my Everyday Preferred Card. I decided to add it to my Everyday as I recently upgraded the card following an upgrade offer for 20,000 MR points and I need to spend $1000 on the card. Since the Everyday has a foreign transaction fee it makes sense to charge USD transactions to it.
You won’t find this offer on Co-Branded Cards but all others should be fine, just skim through your offers and you might find it there.
I can possibly make this work for myself in the coming weeks but the only hotels that come to my mind where I can use it are the Hyatt Regency LAX and the Hyatt Regency Seattle. I won’t be going elsewhere with a Regency property and Canada is excluded per the T&C.
I do like these offers as they help to mitigate your annual membership fee on the card. However I recommend to not jump through hoops just to get a credit. That’s just what they want. For me, if I get a credit based on my regular spending pattern then fine.
Conclusion
American Express has updated the list of its offers with one for Hyatt Regency in the U.S. and you can earn a $60 credit when spending $300 at the hotels. Multiple transactions are ok.
You can only add this offer to ONE card in your card portfolio that is under your name. In case you have a supplementary card it’s possible to add it to those and double dip if the authorized user account has the offer showing up as well.
