Hilton Advance Purchase Rate Modification With A $25/$50 Fee


Hilton is the only chain that I know of which allows you to modify an Advance Purchase Rate that doesn’t allow refunds or changes for a modest fee if done a minimum of three days before scheduled arrival.

The only catch is that this policy only applies to hotels in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean, and you need to contact Hilton’s specific department by phone that processes the change.

  • The existing reservation must be for a hotel in the United States, Canada, Mexico, or the Caribbean.
  • The new reservation must be for a hotel in the same area.
  • You must cancel your existing and confirm the new reservation on the same call (800) 236-7113 or (972) 726-3361).
  • You must call a minimum of three days before the scheduled check-in.
  • A $25 or $50 service fee applies based on the originally booked Hilton brand.

Relevant Part of the Rate Rules:

Price quoted applies to exact date(s)/nights/stay booked. Modifications to your reservation (including but not limited to name changes, date changes, etc.) are not permitted.

However, for bookings in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, a request to cancel an existing Honors Discount Advance Purchase reservation and book a new reservation may be permitted if at the time you are requesting a change to your reservation, you book a new Honors Discount Advance Purchase reservation at any hotel in the Hilton portfolio located in the United States, Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean, subject to availability.

For a cancellation and re-booking to be considered, you must call our Advance Purchase Department to request a change to your reservation at (800) 236-7113 or (972) 726-3361 no less than three days prior to your scheduled check-in date.

Upon receipt of full payment for the new reservation, Hilton will issue a refund for the canceled reservation, less a service fee. It may take up to four (4) weeks for the refund to be reflected on your credit card.

For stays originally booked at the Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, Hilton, Curio, Canopy, Tapestry, Tru, Embassy Suites or Doubletree brand hotels, the service fee is $50.00 and for stays originally booked at a Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton, Homewood Suites and Home2 Suites, the service fee is $25.00.


So, if you book a non-refundable and non-cancelable/changeable advance purchase rate for stays in North America, not all is lost when plans change.

You can move the reservation to another hotel by phoning Hilton’s specific department that processed the change for you for a rather reasonable fee.
