Marriott Reviews Are Back With A Twist

0

Marriott suspended its verified guest reviews at the beginning of the pandemic (read more here) and then brought them back in early 2021 (read more here).

Marriott’s website had a refresh a few months back that removed the reviews altogether. So instead, you had to rely on Google or TripAdvisor for reviews of their hotels.

You can access Marriott here.

Marriott has now tweaked its website, and the verified reviews are back in limited function.

You can no longer sort reviews, for example, based on the reviewer’s status. This function was convenient if you wanted to know how well the hotel treated its elite members such as Platinum, Titanium, or Ambassador.

You can also not sort reviews based on the score that the person left. I tend to read the one and two-star reviews first to see if there are one or two issues that I should be the most concerned about.

You can sort reviews on other sites such as Google or TripAdvisor.

Conclusion

Not sure why Marriott decided to launch a product that was not ready? Its updated website was first missing these reviews (for months).

Some hotels that get low review scores may treat their elite members exceptionally well, and I would not hesitate to stay at them.

I would not choose to stay at any Marriott-affiliated property with a lower than a 4.0 – 4.2 review score if I cannot better sort out and analyze what issues people have and how they treat members.

I wish Marriott would bring back the previous functionality with added sorting options.
