Singapore Changes VTL Testing Requirements

Singapore has made it easier to enter without having to quarantine since late 2021 by launching Vaccinate Travel Lane (VTL) with an ever-increasing number of countries.

The VTL and Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) requirements have changed a few times, and now Singapore has made the return testing easier for many.

You can access Singapore’s page for Safetravel here.

Here’s the update:

3. COVID-19 Tests and Documents Required

Travellers who are eligible for VTL (Air), and have obtained their Vaccinated Travel Pass if needed, should refer to this VTL (Air) traveller checklist for the full list of requirements to complete VTL (Air) travel.

Travellers will need to undergo the following COVID-19 tests:

  1. Pre-departure COVID-19 PCR, professionally administered ART, or self-administered and remotely supervised ART by an approved ART provider in Singapore (for eligible travellers only*), taken within 2 days before departure for Singapore* Please refer to MOH’s listing of remote supervised self-swab providers (under section on “Antigen Rapid Test (ART) Providers”) for information on eligible traveller profiles, eligible countries/regions and approved remote ART service providers.
  2. Unsupervised self-administered ART using self-procured authorised ART kits within 24 hours of arrival in Singapore. Travellers are required to report their test result via before proceeding with their activities in Singapore.

There have been so many, yet significant, tweaks to Singapore’s entry requirements ever since the VTL was launched year that it is challenging to keep track of them all.

Doing a rapid antigen test instead of a PCR-RT one is good, as you can get the result within a few minutes and usually a PDF in your email in half an hour.

It is even more accessible for those who live in Singapore. They can do the test without ever leaving their place of accommodation before returning to Singapore, as long as they have an approved kit with them and schedule a remotely supervised test.
